Islamic Law Analysis of Digital Economic Practices from a Maqasid Syariah Perspective

This study aims to analyze digital economic practices from the perspective of Islamic law using the maqasid al-shariah approach. The rapid development of digital technology has created various forms of new economic transactions such as e-commerce, digital payments, and technology-based financial services that provide convenience and efficiency in economic activities. However, these developments also raise several legal issues that need to be examined within the framework of Islamic law, particularly concerning aspects of justice, transparency, and protection for parties involved in transactions. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method by examining various sources related to digital economy and Islamic law. The findings indicate that digital economic practices are generally permissible in Islamic law as long as they comply with sharia principles such as honesty, fairness, transparency, and the avoidance of elements such as riba, gharar, and maysir. From the perspective of maqasid al-shariah, the digital economy can contribute to achieving public welfare by improving economic efficiency, expanding market access, and empowering business actors. Nevertheless, adequate regulation and supervision are required to ensure that digital economic practices remain aligned with sharia values. Therefore, the digital economy can serve as an important instrument for equitable and sustainable economic development.
